Twins Found in a Box: Adapting to Adoption

I want to share with you the childhood experiences that have inspired me to think outside the box. It’s a story that has challenged my beliefs, opened my mind to new possibilities, and encouraged me to embrace the unknown. I started writing this memoir after my adoptive mother died from cancer in 1997 when I was twenty-five years old.

Writing about my childhood was a way to cope with the struggles in life, such as my adoptive father’s traumatic brain injury, which drastically changed our lives in 1984. My memoir is more than just about adapting; it was a challenge to break free from the limitations of my thinking and to explore the world around me with curiosity and wonder.
